We strive to make every experience with Asana Physiotherapy a positive one because it's critical to your overall healing. Here is what some of our patients have shared about their experience.
  • Ritz

Radhika is excellent and has expertise in physiotherapy. I do recommend their services for the following reasons: (1) patient-centered care; (2) quality treatment. This place is the go-to for your physiotherapy needs. She is knowledgeable and crazy helpful. They have a wide range of techniques and stuff to help you fix yourself! I was given great exercises that are helping me with my pain. The acupuncture, which I had for the first time, was crazy insane in how well it worked. I highly recommend Radhika and Asana Physio.

Radhika is is a professional who very personable and supportive. Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is a doctor's referral necessary for physiotherapy?

Clients do not need a doctor's note for physiotherapy access. Certain extended health insurers may require a doctor's note for reimbursement purposes so we advise verifying the requirements of your private insurance plan before your appointment.

  • Do I need to wear or bring anything specific to my appointment?

We recommend wearing comfortable clothing that allows for ease of movement. Loose-fitting or athletic wear, such as shorts, a T-shirt, or leggings, is often suitable. This attire enables the physiotherapist to assess and treat the affected area more effectively.

It's also helpfull to bring relevant medical information, a list of medications and comfort items like a water bottle.

You can check with us beforehand to confirm if there are any specific requirements or documents you need for your appointment.

  • Am I able to have physiotherapy treatment while I am pregnant?

It is generally safe to have physiotherapy treatment while pregnant. In fact, physiotherapy can be beneficial for addressing various conditions that may arise during pregnancy, such as back pain, pelvic pain, and postural issues.

Let your to physiotherapist know about your pregnancy and any specific concerns you may have. This information helps tailor the treatment plan to ensure it is safe and appropriate for your condition.

We recommend communicating with your obstetrician or midwife about physiotherapy treatment so it aligns with your overall prenatal care plan and medical history.

  • Will I experience pain relief during my initial assessment?

Certainly, on your initial visit, you can anticipate receiving treatment and a comprehensive assessment to understand your specific issue. It is common to experience pain relief during this session, along with receiving home strategies to help address and minimize your pain while enhancing your overall function. Throughout subsequent visits, we will consistently reassess your movements and posture to ensure progress and tailor our approach accordingly.

  • How do you determine how many sessions I will need?

The number of physiotherapy treatments needed varies based on individual circumstances, the nature of the injury or condition, and how well a person responds to treatment. The determination of the number of treatments is highly individualized.

We assess several factors to make this determination including severity of the condition, individual response to treatment, consistency with home exercises, chronic vs. acute conditions and your goals of treatment.

During your initial assessment, we will discuss your condition, assess your movement, and develop a personalized treatment plan inlcuding an estimate of the number of sessions based on the evaluation.

  • What is your cancellation policy?

Our cancellation policy requires a 24-hour notice. This timeframe ensures ample opportunity for other clients to book and respects the therapist's schedule. Failure to cancel within this window will result in a full charge. However, virtual appointments offer the flexibility to switch from an in-person to a virtual session if you are unable to attend in person.

  • Can I experience increased discomfort or pain following my treatment and if so, what should I do?

It is possible to experience increased discomfort or pain after a session, especially if new exercises or techniques are introduced. This is often a normal response as your body adjusts to the therapeutic interventions. If you do encounter heightened discomfort, it's advisable to communicate this to us during your next session. We can then assess your response to the treatment and make any necessary adjustments to ensure your comfort and progress.

  • What happens if the pain I initially came in to treat returns?

If the pain you initially sought to address through physiotherapy returns, communicate this to us. We will likely reassess your condition to understand the reasons behind the recurrence of pain. Possible factors could include changes in your activities, posture, or compliance with the recommended home exercises.

Upon identifying the cause, we may adjust your treatment plan. This could involve modifying existing exercises, introducing new techniques, or providing additional guidance on managing your symptoms. Open communication is crucial in addressing any setbacks or changes in your condition, and it allows for a collaborative approach to ensure ongoing progress and pain management.

  • Should I have physiotherapy before and after surgery?

Physiotherapy is beneficial before and after surgery, optimizing health, preparing for procedures, and aiding recoveries. Pre-surgery, it enhances strength, conditioning, and mobility for improved surgical tolerance. Education covers postoperative precautions and breathing techniques. Post-surgery, physiotherapy manages pain, promotes early mobilization, and gradually progresses exercises for healing. Functional rehabilitation restores daily movements and rebuilds strength. Physiotherapy addresses complications with deep breathing exercises and circulation strategies.

Postoperative physiotherapy timing varies based on surgery type, individual factors, and surgeon recommendations. Effective communication with your healthcare team ensures a tailored rehabilitation process, considering surgical technique, wound healing, and overall recovery plans. Always follow your surgeon and physiotherapist's guidance for optimal postoperative care.
